How to Replace the Dome & Wax Filter on Signia Hearing Devices

Replacing the dome and wax filter on your Signia hearing device is an important part of regular maintenance. Keeping these components clean helps ensure optimal performance and sound quality. We recommend making these changes once a month. If your ears tend to stay relatively clean, every other month may be sufficient. However, if you experience frequent wax buildup, it’s best to stick with monthly replacements.

Step 1: Remove the Dome

The dome is the small black piece at the end of the device. To remove it, simply pull it off—don’t be afraid to use a little force. Once the black tip is removed, you’re ready for the next step.

Step 2: Replace the Wax Filter

Next, you’ll remove the white tip inside the speaker—this is the wax filter. Wax often gets trapped here, which can block sound. You’ll use the wax filter sticks provided in your kit.

  1. Open the wax filter package.
  2. Take out one of the black sticks. One end is for removal, and the other is for inserting the new filter.
  3. Use the removal end to push into the white wax filter on your device. It will click and snap in—then pull it out.
  4. Flip the stick around to the other end.
  5. Push the new wax filter into place until it clicks.
  6. Pull the stick out.

You’ve now successfully replaced the wax filter.

Step 3: Attach a New Dome

Now it’s time to put on a new dome. The old dome, used wax filter, and stick can all be thrown away—they’re not reusable.

  1. Take a new dome from the package.
  2. One side of the dome has a cup-like shape—that’s the end that attaches to the device.
  3. Push the dome onto the end of the speaker. Use firm pressure to ensure it clicks into place.

That’s all there is to it. You’ve now removed the old dome, replaced the wax filter, and attached a fresh dome, keeping your Signia hearing devices clean and working their best!
